Details

From the tallest building to the thickest forest canopy,

Montana 680 pinpoints your location.  Since Montana 680 uses a combination of GPS (USA based) and GLONASS (Russian based) satellite signals, it provides seamless navigational support. This support is enhanced by a WASS-enabled receiver (Wide Area Augmentation System), which narrows data to within 3 millimeters of your exact location.

In addition to the free WASS enabled receiver, Montana 680 decreases satellite acquisition time with Hotfix satellite prediction technology. The technology reduces load time by using a few days of collected data as a starting point for determining your current location.

Plus, Montana 680 uses a built-in 3 axis electronic compass and barometric altimeter to pinpoint your position. The tilt-compensated compass displays your current direction of movement, while the barometric altimeter tracks changes in pressure to pinpoint your current altitude.  The barometric altimeter is good for tracking changes in pressure, but is also helpful for recognizing changes in weather conditions.

Multiple navigational tools, quick load times, and reliable coverage make Montana 680 an ideal GPS system, but …

… geocaching makes Montana 680 fun.

Montana 680 has 4GB of internal storage space and a microSD card slot for saving limitless geocaching locations. …planning trips is made easy with free BaseCamp software.

Free BaseCamp software displays 2 and 3 dimensional topographic maps with contour lines and elevation profiles. These detailed topographic maps are helpful to anyone interested in planning trips according to their level of difficulty, but equally beneficial for locating the most scenic routes.

In addition to the helpful topographic maps, Montana 680 offers a free 1-year subscription to BirdsEye Satellite Imagery. BirdsEye Satellite Imagery allows users to transfer unlimited satellite images to Montana 680 and is a great addition to the detailed topographic maps.

However, trip planning is simplified even more with Track Draw, a tool that allows users to trace planned routes. These planned routes can be shared with others via Garmin Adventures. Or, users can view and download the adventures of others via the same method. The versatility of BaseCamp adds to the overall appeal of Montana 680, but…
