The disk is inexpensive, but with the mediocre speed ratings of 170/98 MB/s it can still be an upgrade, for example on a notebook where a RAID0 setup gives just above 100/50 MBs.

BUT - while the disk feel reasonably fast when reading, it feels awfully slow while writing.

Crystal Disk Mark 3.0.1 x64 shows what happens; sequential read/write at 150/81 MB/s, and random read/writes at 10/2 MB/s. Yes, that's correct - a loathsome 2 MB/s when writing random 4k data.

So no, with this performace, the disk will hardly perform as an upgrade as compared to good notebook drives. Using it in situations where reads are dominant can still be recommended, thanks to the shamelessly low price (at least for the unit that I tested).

For my personal use, this disk will make my next SSD extra expensive, as I really need to replace the slow SSD with one that behaves like an SSD.
