Definitely not steel, and rather bulky yet light, so not something I can call 'quality', however it's one of the best in the market for what is quite a niche product. Happy to report that a UK plug was included in the box, which many reviews I've read have said isn't included.

Works perfectly with my Asus drive (unlike the cheaper IcyBox I tried previously, which was less well-built physically and had occasional USB errors). Knocking a star off for two main reasons:
- it's overpriced for what's basically a wall wart, a cheap metal box and a SATA->USB converter. Good luck finding anything reliable that's cheaper though.
- it's not quite long enough. My 18 cm pioneer drive doesn't fit (my 17 cm ASUS drive does though)

Paired this with Asus Internal Blu-Ray Writer (16x BD-R (SL), 12x BD-R (DL), 16x DVD+/-R), BDXL - 90DD0200-B20010 BW-16D1HT bought together with enclosure. Was able to flash firmware needed for drive to play 4K UHD disks so both worked together well. First time from memoryc and found prices and shipping good for anyone residing in Ireland

Very happy with this with one exception below...
The housing is high quality, the LG drive fits in perfectly, it does exactly what I wanted BUT it comes with only a continental (non UK) plug !!!
The transformer is designed to take slide in adaptors for different countries but only one, for two pin EU sockets, is supplied.

Superb Quality but to short for my Pioneer BDR Drive ...front panel is sticking out approx 5mm there is no space inside to push it more in.

Having updated my PC to a smart 'all in one' model I was faced with no optical drive let alone my LG BluRay re-writer that I had installed in my old PC.
Having reviewed the options and reviews I opted to purchase this OWC enclosure.
It is very smart, sturdy construction and easy to set up although a bit of a tight fit against the circuit board connections at the rear. I needed a longer USB3 cable for my set up, but that's just a personal preference.
Highly recommended if, like me, you want to continue using an optical drive with an updated PC.

This is one of the few enclosures on the market which will take a 'full size' DVD recorder. Very useful with modern desktops that don't have any provision for a second optical drive.
Not very important, but it looks more like extruded aluminium to me, not stainless steel?!!
