The OWC Envoy enclosure has been specifically designed for use ONLY with the factory SSD found installed in Apple MacBook Air 2010 and 2011 models. Upgraded a SSD on a Macbook Air 2011 vintage. Used to caddy for old ssd and worked to migrate across to new harddrive without issue. Now works as a backup drive caddy, although a little bigger than it needs to be. Double check you have the right caddy for the right ssd, they are all a little different
